How Does IV Therapy Work for Chronic Illnesses?
Our clinic’s physicians prescribe intravenous therapies carefully formulated with therapeutic intravenous compounds and medications that are specific for a person’s individual condition. We do this because for individuals with complex chronic illnesses, many of the pathways to absorption are compromised.
However, when these nutrients are applied directly into the body under the careful direct supervision of our licensed doctors and trained medical staff, these prescribed nutrients work more efficiently at the cellular level to boost immune function, increase energy levels, and restore pathways to manage a host of complex, chronic health problems.
Why Use IV Therapy for Chronic Illnesses?
Our goal when healing complex conditions is to achieve serum concentrations of micronutrients that are significant enough to help the body heal without producing any untoward effects. The bioavailability and absorption of IV therapy compounds and medications are always higher than oral delivery because it cuts out the intermediary – in other words, the body’s digestive tract.
While the body metabolizes what it needs in the stomach and intestines, significant amounts of healing therapeutics are lost. Anything taken orally in a pill or powder form travels through the digestive system and crosses a tightly regulated layer of cell linings in the intestinal tract.
Compounds necessary for healing need help from transporters that move each therapeutic compound across the cell lining in the intestinal tract. Since IV’s go directly into the bloodstream, there is no need for the body to metabolize the dose through the digestive system. It is among the best ways to deliver what the body needs to heal.
And when the gut is impaired because of illness, this process is even more difficult and inefficient. As is often seen with chronic illness, a person’s gastrointestinal tract may not function optimally, which slows down progress.
Regardless of what the overall illness is, anytime we can heal the gut, the entire body benefits. Healing the digestive tract takes time and we want to help our patients start the healing process right way. The workaround is to bypass the gut with IV therapy until the digestive tract is functioning more optimally.

How Often is IV Therapy Administered?
When a person becomes a patient at Restoration Healthcare, they will likely see our IV Therapy team more than any other clinic staff member. Our physicians prescribe a certain number of IV therapies per week based on baseline laboratory work and the severity of the condition. As one progresses through the treatment, this will be monitored and adjusted accordingly. Some treatments, such as chelation therapy to rid the body of harmful heavy metals, may take longer than other prescribed IV therapies.
If this sounds complicated and time-consuming, we understand. Our IV therapy rooms are set up so that you can work on a computer, take phone calls and keep up with your busy life while undergoing the therapy. We also have a quiet room if you prefer. Our staff is always nearby to check on you, answer questions and make sure you are comfortable.
For optimal treatment outcomes, you must complete your entire prescribed IV Therapy course of treatment. Our comprehensive approach to treating complex-chronic illness is a commitment of time and energy. We understand that can be a challenge. However, we know from published research and years of experience that this commitment is needed for the resolution of complex chronic illnesses.
